Lazy Sunday Shredded Beef Chili
There’s no need to simmer chili all afternoon. With Keystone Recipe-Ready Beef, you can make a rich, hearty Lazy Sunday Shredded Beef Chili in a fraction of the time. This easy meal comes together with pantry staples and delivers comforting flavor with minimal prep.
Ingredients
- 1 can (28 oz) Keystone Beef, drained and shredded
- 2 cans mild chili beans
- 2 cans chopped tomatoes
- 1½ packages mild chili seasoning
- ½ cup dehydrated onions or ½ cup fresh onion, chopped
- 1 tsp. jarred garlic or 1 clove garlic, minced
- ½ cup ketchup
- 2 tsp. vegetable oil
-
½ cup beef broth (optional, for desired consistency)
Slow Cooker (Crock Pot) Method
Because Keystone Beef is fully cooked, the slow cooker is simply used to heat the chili and allow the flavors to come together.
For best flavor, sauté the fresh onion and garlic in a skillet with vegetable oil until soft and fragrant.
Add the chili beans, tomatoes, Keystone Beef, dehydrated onion (if using), garlic (if using jarred), ketchup, chili seasoning, and beef broth to your Crock Pot. Stir to combine.
Cook on low for 2–3 hours or high for 1–1½ hours, until heated through and flavors have blended.
For a simple dump-and-go meal, skip sautéing the onion and add everything directly to the slow cooker. Cover and cook as directed. Stir before serving.
Stove Top Steps
- As you open and empty each can, add ½ can of water to rinse the contents into a large heavy pot.
- If using fresh onion and garlic, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Sauté onion and garlic for about 4 minutes, stirring frequently until softened.
- Add chili beans, tomatoes, Keystone Beef, dehydrated onion (if using), garlic (if using jarred), and ketchup.
- Stir in chili seasoning and beef broth.
- Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for about 15 minutes to heat through and blend flavors.
-
Serve warm with your favorite toppings.
